Being Grateful

Love is….being GRATEFUL! —

I had a rough Friday night and Saturday, thank God it was nothing too major- Alhamdulillah! GRATEFUL for family that is always there for me during difficult times ♡♡♡

While I was at the hospital, there was a child (I’m guessing about 2-3 years old from his voice) in a nearby room who kept crying and screaming- for hours. My heart was hurting for him and his parents.

Hearing this little boy cry reminded me of the time when my husband and I took my oldest daughter to the hospital when she was 2 years old. She was crying and screaming in the hospital room, just like this little boy was- for hours.

My husband and I tried everything we could to calm her down, but nothing worked; she kept crying and screaming in pain. It turned out she had a really bad ear infection, and needed antibiotics right away.

Perhaps, if I hadn’t experienced that difficult time – as a parent waiting at the hospital with a screaming toddler- I would have found that little boy’s cry loud and irritating, but I didn’t at all. I kept thinking of how this must be physically and emotionally exhausting for his parents, and no doubt, how tired and in pain this boy must be.

Being a parent has been one of the biggest blessings for me, for it has given me more patience and empathy- and for that I’m GRATEFUL.
