(Edited on January 2015 for the ‘Love Is’ series)

Love is…seeing your children pray, not because they were forced to, but because they wanted to.

While my 6 year old daughter has always loved praying Salaah, my younger daughter (3years old) doesn’t seem very interested in Salaah. In fact, she will just put on her hijab, stand on the mat for 5 seconds, and then run around the room. It’s not much longer until she has taken her hijab off and is in the living room playing with her toys.

With that said, I wouldn’t really say it has to do with her young age because my two year old son seems very interested in prayer, as he’s usually right beside his oldest sister praying. So, why isn’t my three year old interested in Salaah? I’m not quite sure to be honest, but I do know that I won’t be forcing her to pray especially at three years old! I want her to learn to love Salaah, not hate it. I want her to pray because it is good for her heart and soul, not because she is being scolded into it. I want her to find peace in prayer, and not look to it as a chore.

I know it might take some time, but she’ll get there in shaa Allah.

  1. Yes, I totally agree with you about it. Insha’Allah your younger daughter will love sholat, becouse she has an amazing mother like you. i believe in it.

  2. Maybe if she has a special hijab only for prayertime, it will help focus her in the right direction, insha’Allah! Alhamdulillah, she has wonderful examples, masha’Allah! ♥♥♥ ;^)

    • She does have a special hijab and her prayer mat sis, but she’s still not interested. I’m thinking it’s just her personality and the fact that she cannot sit still for more than a few seconds. Insha’Allah as she gets older, she will be able to focus for longer periods of time <3 Jazak'Allah Khair sister for your recommendation though, I really appreciate it sis 🙂 Stay blessed my sister!
