It was a very long day yesterday, so long that I fell asleep while my daughter was reading her home reading book from school…

….but I woke up just before she finished the book and I told her that I listened to every word- shhhhh don’t tell her though! Besides, mommy had a long day, so it’s totally okay if mommy took a little (much needed) nap.

I don’t know about you all, but I never really enjoyed “home reading.” In the beginning, the kids bring home level 1 books, so it’s not that bad. Once the books get harder and LONGER though- that’s when I start to panic!

There have been times when my older daughter is reading her VERY LONG book and the baby is crying, and my other daughter is screaming because she wants a snack “right now!”

After school, the kids are tired and I’m tired because 1. I didn’t sleep well the night before because of the baby and 2. I’m usually just exhausted giving my full attention to the baby. So, the last thing I want to do is sit down and listen to my daughter read her book.

UPDATE:
Since the weather is getting warmer, Hafsah’s teacher has not been assigning home reading. Instead, he’s telling his students to go outside and enjoy the weather! Awesome teacher? I THINK SO!

Another Update:

Now that my daughter is older, she reads her home reading book all by herself- which is great because now she’s reading chapter books! But of course, now my younger daughter is bringing home books – yay me!
