I have two young daughters that I try my best to keep on the right path. I know, as they get older, they will hear phrases such as, “you’re not pretty enough,” “you’re not smart enough,” etc, but it’s my duty to tell them that as long as they have faith, they have everything they need to make it through this temporary life, and to live happily ever after in the permanent life, the hereafter.
There will be times where they will come crying to me, and yet they will refuse to listen to my words, but as long as I provide them with a good role model, I know in my heart they will turn out to be strong independent Muslimahs that will take on this world, and the harsh words that surround them. With that said, it’s my duty as a mother, to be that role model. Cleaning the house, running errands, sleepless nights, cooking dinner, dealing with tantrums- all of this is nothing compared to the job that I have as being a role model. I promise myself each day, that I will be there for all my children, I will listen to them, I will defend them, I will teach them everything I know, and I will help them. I’am their comfort, I’am their light, I’am their strength, I’am their role model- I’am their mama. Holding my hand, and with faith in their hearts, my daughters will make it Insha’Allah, I know they will!
