There are many things I miss about the summer holidays already, like watching the kids play at the splash park, the afternoon strolls to the pond with my family, and eating ice cream almost every day- but if there’s one thing I’m looking forward to this September, it’s putting the kids to bed early and getting back on track with life!
Here are 5 things I have been doing in September to help me get back on track:
1.Creating a routine
Let’s face it, there was no routine for my family and I during the summer; the kids went to bed whenever they felt tired and woke up when they felt like it.
This month, I have been putting the kids to bed earlier and they are waking up bright and early and feeling more refreshed! As a result, we all have more energy and have been more motivated to conquer our busy days!
2. Get organized
There is a lot to keep up with this month since it’s the start of back to school. I have been keeping track of all the paper sent home from school by using an accordion style pocket organizer. Using a planner is also a great idea to keep track of all the appointments and other important dates.
The kids love to get involved in helping out as well (for now, anyways!), so their task is to select out a week’s worth of clothing on Sundays and to clean up the foyer. They have a designated place to put their backpacks after school, they also hang up their sweaters or coats, and put their shoes on the boot tray.
3. Detox
Summer usually means eating delicious BBQ and ice cream almost every day. To help your body feel better and lighter, drink a glass of warm lemon water every morning before breakfast.
To take it one step further, use a detox tea such as TeDivina Original which is made from these 12 essential organic herbs: Persimmon Leaves, Holy Thistle, Malva Leaves, Marsh, Blessed Thistle, Papaya, Myrrh, Chamomile, Ginger, Cranberry, Siberian Chaga, Ganoderma, and Fiber.

(Please note, this tea should NOT be taken if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have heart problems, or any other major medical issues. Consult with your doctor before taking this tea or any other health product)
4.Take care of your body
Taking care of your body is essential; with proper exercise and and a well balanced diet, you will have more energy to get things done and productivity will increase!
You don’t have to allocate a lot of time for exercise, even a few minutes of skipping rope will get your heart rate up and have you feeling more energized!
5. Self care
Do something you enjoy whenever you can, whether it be reading a book, taking a bath, or having a coffee date with a good friend.
I know that things can get really busy sometimes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t squeeze in a few minutes for yourself- trust me, the more happier you are, the more positive your attitude will be, and the further you will get in life!

I need to do more of 3 and 5. Am pretty bad in the self care side of things…but making the effort now as it is so important!
I had my second baby this summer and have been working hard to get into routine ever since. Exercising and keeping fit is a challenge but I’m getting there inshaAllah! Oh, and I’ve been having warm lemon water every morning too! 🙂
These are also on my list! Most particularly the getting organized part 😅😅😅
Lovely! You’re tips are ljke the perfect way to get back on track.
I am a true believer of routines and without it my life seems aimless. I love the way you have organised yourself and your family…good going sister
Love the idea of keeping an organizer! Things can feel like they’ve got out of hand when kids are fresh out of vacation mode. Bookmarking these tips. We are soon gonna delve into a vacation next month here in India. It’ll be useful to refer these tips when school re-opens in sha Allah 😊 thank you, sis ❤
I thought i was the only one that needed getting back on track. The right books always inspire me and help me refocus.
Since I am working, even during vacation, I make sure the girls sleep by 10, despite their protests. If I don’t stick to a routine, I feel very lost… lovely article!
Lovely post! I like how your routine includes self care and me time as we all tend to ignore that section.

ah I absolutely love these tips. I need to do focus on #2 and #5….. and totally agree about summer, there’s been days out and stuff where we have mostly eaten junk food from takeaways (would have a picnic in the park with our favourite greasy chicken and chips!).
